Jim Stakey Greenhouses LLC

The Stakey family has roots in Aquebogue since the early 1900’s. Jim’s Grandfather and Father grew potatoes, cauliflower, strawberries and lima beans. In 1976 with the help of his parents, Jim expanded his family’s farm to include pumpkins and opened up one of Long Island’s first “pick your own” pumpkin farms.  Jim started the greenhouse business, Jim Stakey Greenhouses, in 1978 growing flowers for the wholesale trade. In 1998, the business undertook a large expansion with construction of a modern Venlo glass greenhouse. Jim started growing “Proven Winners”® products in 2007, to provide retail customers and garden centers the healthiest and longest lasting plants the industry has to offer.  “Proven Winners”® search the world to find and select plants that are clearly superior. Growing trials are held around the world. Plants are tested for disease, reliability and consumer interest. In 2010, Jim opened a retail garden center in Aquebogue called Stakey’s Flower House, allowing “Proven Winners” enthusiasts access to his wide assortment and hard to find items.

Jim Stakey Greenhouses is a family wholesale business selling only the highest quality plants grown in our facility. We partner with premier suppliers in the industry to enhance quality and performance of our plants.
